About Our Name

St. Pius X Catholic School is named after Pope St. Pius X (1835-1914). Pope Pius X born Giuseppe Melchior Sarto, served as Pope for 12 years. He emphasized the importance of daily Eucharist ("the Pope of Frequent Communion"), therefore, he decreed that children of the age of seven should receive the sacrament of Holy Communion. He was declared a saint on May 29, 1954 by Pope Pius XII, one year before our school was founded. His Feast Day is August 21.

Traditions at St. Pius of How the Students Walk with Jesus

Weekly Mass - The students come together with the parish community to celebrate the Eucharist. The mass is an anchor and a cornerstone of our school week.

Sacraments  - Second graders prepare for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion

Morning Rosary -  Students in grades K-3 gather together outside their classrooms to begin their day by saying the rosary. They learn about the Mysteries of the Rosary and how Jesus wants us to live our daily lives.

Christmas Play - A 3rd grade production that culminates with the Nativity Story with the 2nd grade as the chorus is one of the highlights of the Christmas season at St. Pius. It surely is one of the alumni's favorite memories of St. Pius.

Living Nativity and Baby Shower for Jesus - A 1st grade production held on the last day before Christmas vacation. It reminds everyone to shower each other with love each day of our lives. The school children bring items for babies in need. The baby items are given to BirthLine each year.

Christmas Caroling - 5th grade students visit a local nursing home to bring joy and conservation to the residents.

Living Way of the Cross - A very moving version of the Stations of the Cross led by the 8th grade students with the help of 7th grade students as the choir. I tis held for both the student body, as well as, the parish community in the evening.

Can Food Drives for the Community - A can food drive is held during the school year to fill the pantries of local organizations. The student body shares their blessings with those in need.

St. Pius X, a kindergarten through eighth grade school, founded in 1955, with a rich tradition, teaches its students to follow Jesus's example of service and sacrifice.
