Bylaw Revision: The "SPX HSO Constitution" and the "SPX HSO ByLaws" have been combined into one document to reduce redundancy. It has been posted on the Edline for review. The new document is "ByLaws of the Parent-Teacher Organization of St. Pius X" (2). This new document reflects a name change of our organization from "HSO" to "PTO" which will become effective July 1st if passed. The distinction between PTO and PTA can be found by google search on the PTO Today website. (PTA is a national organization). A motion was made to pass the revised combined Constitution and ByLaws now known as the "ByLaws of the Parent-Teacher Organization of St. Pius X". Motion seconded. Passed unanimously.

Nominating Committee: Susan Ney still needs names for the slate of vacated HSO officers for 2006-2007. Please contact her if you know of someone who would like to serve. Handout on Nominations Procedures and Suggestions distributed (3).

Committee Reports

Skating Party: Scheduled for Easter Monday, April 17th from 2 – 4 pm.

Flower Sale: A preliminary Flower Sale History 2006 Handout (4) was distributed. It reviews details from ’98 to current. This year is down from last year. However, "day of" sales have not yet been determined. There were approx. 100 families that participated, including parishioners.

Cookie Dough Sales: Erin Dorsey has agreed to chair. Order forms will be sent out next week in the take home envelopes. Orders due by April 27th, with delivery date expected in approx. 3 weeks. Sale is limited to school families.

Book Fair: Pleased with results. All proceeds go to the library. Currently, the money is placed in a restricted account used for library only. However, for accountability purposes, will look into having $$ go through the HSO books in the future.

Dads Dinner: Deb Waltz reported that there was a positive response from all involved.

National Nutrition Month: 5th grade had a fruit and veggie lesson. Decorated "heads" with high Vitamin A and C produce. Very creative! "Think your Drink" (K-5) compared category of drinks like Red Bull, etc…dehydrating drinks secondary to high sugar and caffeine. Students were treated to smoothies. Pedometers were a hit and miss, but certainly made students aware of their activity levels. "Pack a Healthy Lunch" was a success. Almost 100% healthy lunches. Two students decidedly packed a non nutritious lunch for added fun. Poster Contest had 15 – 20 entries. The winners were hung on the wall. Essay Contest had only a few entries. On April 21st a speaker from NIFS will discuss sports nutrition from 1:00 – 2:00.

Field Day /Picnic on the Playground: Event agenda to be determined. Jug’s Catering is scheduled May 31st, to provide hamburger lunch. The cost is $3.75 per person, but HSO has agreed to subsidize the lunch to keep the cost down to $2.50 per person.

SCRIP: ONLINE!! Handout (5) distributed about "online" ordering. The new ordering system has decreased the man hours needed to process orders. Currently reviewing and updating job descriptions. Received $6000 in orders this week (usually $3000). One SPX family has received a $1500 tuition credit for next year just from purchasing through SCRIP. Will still order "stock" certificates. Payments will continue through Monday take home envelopes. In the process of working through a web hosting agreement. There will be an internet hosting fee for SCRIP similar to that of School Lunch.
