FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear Friends,

Congratulations to Karen McNulty, a Cathedral H.S. soon to be grad. Karen has received a Damiano Scholarship to Marian College, a service oriented program exploring the various areas of "service" available in our church and society. We’re proud of you, Karen and all of our SPX graduates!

Recently at St. Matthew’s, there has been some stolen property taken during Mass, i.e., ladies purses. I advise all of you ladies to be careful with purses, car keys, etc. Also, keep your cars locked during Masses, even for Communion Services. We can’t be too careful!

Mass Wednesday is outside. Adults are welcome, bring your lawn chair; a few chairs will be provided. As of this writing, I’m not sure where the Mass will be celebrated. Look around!

Next Sunday, May 25, is the Feast of "Corpus Christi", the Body of Christ. Following the 11:00 am Mass that day, we will have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 2:00 pm, closing with Benediction. If this is of interest to you, come. I know it’s race day but this feast fluctuates each year.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is held at St. Luke’s in a special secure chapel. Anyone is welcome to attend. You can receive the "codes" from their office. The idea is that this form of Eucharistic piety is held in a church in each deanery not necessarily every church. That is why we do not offer it here, in case you are wondering.

I expect those interested in this type of prayer to be here, Sunday, May 25 Noon – 2:00 pm. We do offer this on occasion, but the very small number of participants is very discouraging.

Finally, remember in your prayers Keith Tekulve, our parishioner who died suddenly on May 7. We offer our condolences to his wife, Kathy, his four children Kristyn, Brian, Erin and Kellie and to his mother Clara Tekulve and sister Kara Traub. Also, our parishioner Joan Franklin passed away on May 8. May the risen Lord receive these faithful servants of His into eternal life. Alleluia.

Take care,

Fr. Jerry

Registration forms will still be available for new families to download from the SPX website.

Thank you for all you do at St. Pius X Parish. You have made this a spectacular School of Religion year! Remember to continue paper recycling this summer and place papers in the green and yellow bin in church parking lot near rectory. Have a wonderful and safe summer!
